India is one of the greatest countries of the world as we know it. However, isn’t perfect.

There are a lot of amazing things about India that we can go on and on about. At the same time, there are a few things that need improvements. One of them is the crime against women and Rape.

Going through the pages of a newspaper, we come across a lot of headlines reporting cases of sexual assault, molestation, sexual harassment, rapes, trafficking, ill treatment of women in houses, violence against women in remote areas, etc. Over the past few years, the safety of women in India has reduced due to various continuous and terrible crimes against women.

As per statistics, there are around 92 women raped in India every day which means that a woman is raped in India every 15 minutes, and this does not include eve teasing and other sexual harassment crimes against women.

“The fourth most common crime against women in

India, is rape”.

Over the past few years, the safety of women in India has reduced due to various continuous and terrible crimes against women.

On Dec 16′ 2012 one such crime shook not just the whole country but the entire world, where a student was violently raped on a moving bus in Delhi and died of severe internal injuries.

Yes, this incident is also called as the “Nirbhaya Case.”,

Also, a Young woman living in Delhi who was leaving a social gathering in the west Delhi neighborhood of Vasant Vihar, got into a Uber car to go home was assaulted and raped by the driver, who turns out had a long-standing criminal record which included rape and molestation. There are so many more cases like that of a 22-year-old photojournalist who was an intern with an English-language magazine in Mumbai, she was gang-raped by five persons, when she had gone to the deserted Shakti Mills compound, near Mahalaxmi in South Mumbai, with a male colleague on an assignment including a juvenile.

“In India, according to estimates, 180 children go

missing on an average everyday”.

According to data given by the Delhi Police and the ministry of women and child development, an average of 20 children go missing in the national Capital every day. And sad to say only 30 per cent of these missing children are reunited with their families. The rest remain untraced. Of the 20 children, only one or two go missing on their own.

A 15-year-old Tara Juneja (not her real name) disappeared from the narrow lanes of south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar, luckily for Tara, she was found although she had been forced into prostitution at a brothel in West Bengal’s Siliguri city before she was rescued. Despite Tara and her family’s ordeal, they consider themselves fortunate.

According to a statement by a 12-year-old victim from Chandni Chowk area, who was kidnapped and drugged. After she had recovered a week later, she realized she had been forced into prostitution. Ten months later she along with other trafficked girls were rescued from Uttar Pradesh by an NGO.

However, as “Sid from the movie Rang De Basanti” said, Koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota usko perfect banana padta hai (No country is perfect, you have to make it perfect).

This is the duty of every individual to work towards the problem and contribute however small or big we could.

We at Satak Support understand the severity of the issue and trying to contribute our bit.

To reduce the increasing number of rape and kidnapping in India the use of mobile phones which have become an inseparable part of our lives as the weapon of self-defense has become eminent.

We are introducing an android app “SAWDHAAN” that will help the women in situations when they feel unsafe from the surroundings.

Women in the country can now look forward to alerting their friends and family through the swipe of a finger on sensing danger using a Sawdhaan SOS and Distress application. The application tracks the user’s location and sends SOS messages to selected contacts in case of an emergency.

However, women, teenagers as well as the elderly can make good use of Sawdhaan Distress Message app to use their mobile phones as an SOS tool in case of emergencies.

How Does Sawdhaan App Work?

The application can help make a woman feel safe, especially given the current law and order situation.

However, reduce the number of rape and kidnapped victims as well as distressed elderly.

The app comes with a lot of features which are:

1

Reads the Swipe

No need to access the app by unlocking the phone. The app gets activated as soon as it reads the distress pattern on the home screen.

Records the Surrounding Voices

The app also activates the microphone and records small voice clips and send them as downloadable links.

Collects the Location

As soon as the app gets activated it collects the actual location, Maps it on Google Map and sends exact coordinates.

Auto Pick and Recording Calls

The app activates the auto pick and recording of all the incoming calls. The recording calls can also be downloaded.

r

Disables Power Buton

Upon activation the app disables power button so that the app can be functional til the time the battery is not drained completely.

Sends Distress Messages

All the collected Info is uploaded to our servers on a regular interval of 5 minutes and send to upto 3 predefined numbers and an e-mail address.

How Does Sawdhaan App Help In A Distress Situation?

1. You don’t have to open the app; it immediately reads a distress pattern on the home screens. This is because In some situations it’s not possible to unlock the phone > access the app > send distress message (drawing a distress pattern from the locked screen is easy, convenient, fast and people around you don’t get to know that you sent out a distress message)

2. The app automatically collects the location of the victim as soon as the pattern is drawn.

3. App disables the manual shut down or restarts of the phone. The app makes sure that the regular contact/communication with the phone is remain established.

4. It enables auto pick and recording of all the incoming calls this is because if you are not in a situation to answer the calls. The app picks all the calls as soon as the distress is enabled so that the person who calls can figure out what’s happening with the individual who sent out distress message and if something bad happens this recording can be used as evidence.

5. The app records small sound clips using microphones.

6. The app sends all the information to up to predefined three mobile phones and an e-mail address (location, call recording, and the sound clip recording).

7. It collects and sends this information every 5 minutes till the time the distress signal is not manually stopped from the app this is because in the case of kidnapping and abduction the location changes so sending details every 5 minutes may help to figure out where they are headed. Also where they stopped if more than two messages are received from one location.

8. The app is password protected so even if the culprit gets on the phone, they can’t stop the distress signals.

Frequently Asked Questions

In what all scenario Sawdhaan app can be used?

Sawdhaan App can be used in many scenarios apart from women and child security and abduction.

Sick and elderly people can use this app to send out distress messages in any medical emergency as well;

Like Asha Kedar Sawhney who resided alone at 63 years of age, who stayed alone on the tenth floor of Belscot Tower in Lokhandwala, she was found dead with skeletal remains with her clothes on by her only son Ruturaj, who is an IT engineer.

He had gone to the US in 1997 and stays in New Jersey. Ruturaj last spoke to his mother in April 2016 and since then had not checked on her. His father Kedar Sawhney has died in 2013 a since then his mother had lived alone.

According to him, the senior woman had complained to him severely that she was finding it very difficult to live by herself alone in the two flats the family owned at Belscot Tower. When Ruturaj finally came home, he found the flat locked from inside. He rang the doorbell, and when his mother did not answer the door bell, he opened it with a duplicate key, But what greeted him was the badly decomposed body of his mother which had turned into a skeleton, laying on the bedroom.

Asha Kedar Sawhney could’ve probably used the Sawdhaan app or ny other SOS app to send out a distress message to his son.

Why Sawdhaan App is not available for free?

This is an important question, and we would like to answer this issue in detail.

The idea behind creating the app is to make sure that every person has access to his/her guardians at the time when they are needed them most.

We don’t have any investor backing the development, maintenance, and support of the whole program. We invested whatever we had, to bring this idea to reality. The App works as we imagined it would, and our servers are capable of handling a few thousand distress message or SOS request every day, but this is not enough.

We are not the first app available in the play store, many Women safety or SOS app came in the market, but they failed to keep up.

We’ve planned to add many other features in future updates and keep evolving, and without generating any revenue from the app, it’s not possible to keep working since we are keeping the app Ads free and have already invested what we could.

However We’ve kept the price of the app quite affordable, the app licence is just INR 75 per license so that every smartphone user can use Sawdhaan SOS app.
